Spicy Chicken Tenders
These spicy air fryer chicken tenders are amazingly delicious. If you chicken an easy homemade chicken tender, or you're looking for a healthier version of a storebought family favorite, you are going to love this recipe. The prep time takes a little while, BUT the end result is SO worth it.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken tenderloins
Marinade
- 1 cup buttermilk
- ½ cup dill pickle juice
- 3 tablespoon hot sauce
Coating
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup panko bread crumbs
- ½ cup cornstarch
- 2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce
Sauce
- 2 tablespoons hot sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
Instructions
- Add the chicken to a freezer bag or a glass bowl. Add in the chicken and the ingredients for the marinade. Seal the bag or cover the bowl with plastic wrap and then chill for 4 hours.
- Next, line a baking sheet with paper towels. This is to absorb excess liquid from the chicken. Remove the chicken from the marinade and place it on the paper towels on the baking sheet, and then set it to the side.
- Get out a small bowl and combine the flour, panko, cornstarch, salt, paprika, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder.
- In another small bowl add the eggs, buttermilk, and hot sauce, and then whisk together.
- Dredge the chicken tenders in the flour mixtures, then next in the buttermilk mixture, and then dredge in the flour mixture again. Then, put the chicken on the baking sheet while prepping the remaining chicken.
- Set to the side for 20 minutes.
- Lightly spray the air fryer with avocado oil.
- Place the chicken in the air fryer and set it to 370 degrees to cook for 8 -14 minutes.
- Add hot sauce and brown sugar to a small bowl and whisk to combine.
- Lightly coat the chicken tenders with the hot sauce and then serve.
